With there being so many ways to make ForePutt an outstanding golf app, you sometimes have to go all in on features which you have no idea how to implement but is instead, is just what you are really excited about doing.
For me, that is to attach a microchip with sensors to the golf club to then sync shot tracking to the app directly. This is the final piece to having all the great features of a digital score card without having to stare at your phone while playing. This is the thing that has always bothered me with ForePutt, and any golf app for that matter, that when playing golf you should enjoy nature and the people and the game! Not to stare into your phone to track statistics or, even worse, wait for the app to load while your friends are expecting you to take you next shot.
ForePutt has, since the beginning, been built with user experience first and foremost in mind, and in that, using the app as little as possible while playing is the goal. The app shouldn't be in your way to play golf, it should enhance it, it should be quick and responsive when you do need it and then be quick to put away. Adding hardware as an optional addition to the ForePutt app, improves and takes the user experience beyond the app, and allows you to play you whole game without ever having opening the app during the round!
So today the learning and experimentation begins. Having, bought a simple sensor chip, the first goal is to see if we can properly register a golf swing, and send that to the phone for shot registration.
